Muscari discolor (Iran)
1, History/Origin
This one comes from Iran. According to it’s supplier it ‘is so unusual by flower form, that could be even new species.
It is certainly a darker, dustier violet and has a neater more compact form than other discolor types in the collection.
It is also extremely and beautifully fragrant.
Brian Mathew placed Muscari discolor within the Pseudomuscari group in ‘The Smaller Bulbs’ owing to the lack of constriction at the mouth of the flowers.
