Bellevalia assadii Wendelbo

History/Origin

Collected by Ranveig and Robert Wallis, originally from Esfahan Province in Iran from a very dry slope with limestone rock outcrops.

Published in 1980 in the Notes from the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh by Norwegian botanist Per Wendelbo.

The plant is named after Mr Mostafa Assadi of the Botanical Institute of Iran. Mr Assadi was the travelling companion and friend of Per Wendelbo. He was the first to find this new species on their collecting trip to Azarbaijan.
